Already beloved in Brisbane for their Stafford Heights and Underwood eateries, Grilling Art have created a new temple for meat-lovers on the corner of Station and Aspinall Street in Nundah. It seems weak to invoke a cliche but, at this bar and grill, the clue really is in the title. Not ignored as an invisible, necessary medium, nor dismissed as a mere piece of kitchen equipment, here the grill is embraced as a means of expressing and creating, a vehicle for connecting primordial, carnal urges with contemporary cool and creatively chic. Okay, we may be getting a bit carried away, but it’s hard not to after you see what’s on offer at Grilling Art.
The burgers alone would be enough to justify a trip from anywhere around Brisbane to the corner of Station and Aspinall streets. Undoubtedly among the best in town, Grilling Art’s teetering towers of tantalising treats epitomise why the word ‘art’ is in the bar and restaurant’s title – the menu is a compendium of creations too long to tire of, available on cloud-like buns, gluten-free bread or healthy wraps. Unsurprisingly, the eponymous grill also throws up countless concoctions from bacon-rolled asparagus to baby back ribs, while breakfast is also a big deal here in Nundah – we mean, like, pulled-pork-eggs-benedict big, though of course a few unique creations and plenty of healthy light options grace the board, too.
