Always a pleasure eating at niku ou, the food is consistently amazing, along with some wonderful cocktails great for small intimate dinners

Niku Ou still had a great atmosphere and service. The staff was friendly, the food was good but the only concern is that they no longer have that special Hida wagyu from Japan. The Australian wagyu was great still but there are slight differences. Still a great place to go to at least once a year to indulge is high fat content meat that just melts in your mouth.

I knew that Niku Ou is another restaurant owned by the same owner for Wagyu Ya. To be frank, I was kinda disappointed at their service given that price point. The waiter can’t speak full English and he was kinda unpleasant. We ordered a foie gras sushi roll and they delivered a unagi avocado roll. We told the waiter and he said the picture differs from the real dishes. But we insisted they had delivered the wrong dish. After a while, he agreed to either change the price tag to unagi avocado roll or to re-order for us. His attitude could have been a lot better. Instead of hiring Japanese wait staff, I think they should hire someone with enthusiasm and speak full English. On the food perspective, their foie gras rice is good as usual. And they mix some soy sauce on our Wagyu platter. If the meat is fresh enough, why do they have to add soy sauce? That is perplexing. Most of the seasonal seafood was unavailable on the menu. I understand that since the pandemic hits logistics. Overall, I’d rate a 3 out of 6. 1 point deducted for service. 1 point deducted for soy sauce wagyu. 1 point deducted for missing menu item.
