Sumibiyaki Shyun

Great food and service. We ordered a BBQ set and sukiyaki beef. BBQ set came with an entree, a big plate of meat, a plate of skewers, salad, soup, rice at an affordable price. We loved the sukiyaki with add on udon since the sauce was just right (not too sweet) and it had plenty of veggies. Food came so fast, the table was packed with food. The two side tables weren’t big enough. The waitress felt sorry and offered us to move to a bigger table. We felt grateful but so troublesome to move. We stayed at the same table and the waitress was very responsive to take away the dishes when done to free the space. We spent $221 for 4, great value.

a party of 4 on Valentines Day. We were told on arrival we only had 90 minutes. I should have been told this on booking. We ordered the special and all the food came at once - with dishes piled on top f each other on the table. The food was good but having it all rushed at us at once and piled all over the table made it an unpleasant dining experience overall. Felt way too rushed and not very welcomed.

It was small portions and we left hungry . So disappointed

Second time here at Sumibiyaki Shyun, the meats are of good quality and the food tasted amazing!

Lots of fun and great food. Back room is very noisy however when there is more than two tables.

Overall, the experience was fairly average. The food and service were both acceptable but nothing memorable. We were seated at the back of the restaurant in a rather dingy room, which didn’t create a great first impression and set the tone for the evening. The BBQ was hit and miss — some of the meats were enjoyable, while others lacked flavour and fell a bit flat. The sashimi, however, stood out as the highlight of the meal and was easily the best dish we had. All in all, it was an okay experience, but not one that left us eager to return.

The food was very good, though the service was lacking. Water wasn't offered at the table, staff spoke very minimal english and didn't bother giving food explanation.

The food was nice (what we got of it). BUT Food took a long time. We didn't receive part of our meal and when we asked one of the ladies if she could follow up on the missing meal...she said she would go and check..disappeared in the back and never returned. After waiting a while longer and seeing everyone else receive their food, we decided to leave. At the till, they attempted to charge us for the meal we did not receive. We did not pay for it. There was no apology or explanation once we explained we did not receive the meal. A very confusing experience. Food was nice though.

Fresh food, we choose only cooked items but they were delicious and the staff were amazing.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful. We really didn’t know what to expect and ordered the chefs banquet which was excellent value with 5 different cuts of high quality meat. The miso, salad and accompaniments that came with it were perfect. We’ll be back!

Lovely meal, BBQ experience with excellent meats. Sides were fantastic too.

The charcoal BBQ is amazing! The beef there is excellent and super high quality which the same good as the one I had in Japan.

My son liked the sukiyaki beef with udon, I had the beef lunch set was tasty but slightly oily than expected. We seated right under the speaker, so the music was a bit too loud for us. Overall, I liked the dinner experience more than lunch one. Still it’s my favourite restaurant.

Quality of hot food was good especially the soup! Ordered a set however 2 out of 4 pieces of the A5 wagyu were pure fat. There were bits of base of tongue in the ox tongue platter that was so hard and unable to be chewed through! Expecting better quality for the price

Ordered the premium beef yakiniku set and ox tongue set. The quality of beef is ok but a few pieces have tendons in it. Love the coal fire bbq which allow the meat to cook slowly.

The serving staff could have been more helpful to guide us through the ordering process like the different dining options, what might suit us more, the different types of meat etc. instead she left us with full privacy (much appreciated if we’ve experienced dining there before) to figure the menu on our tiny phones & even forgetting to show us a physical instruction card which was on another table. If the above issues were handled better, the whole dining experience would have been almost perfect.

Amazing place! The first place we could think of for yakitori and their Japanese bbq was delicious, recommend getting the set. We will be back!

My sons took me here on Mother's Day. We had a course recommendation. The meat was tender and delicious. It was a shame that they had paper cups for water. Since it's an expensive restaurant, I would like them to provide proper glasses . I'd like to go back and try other dishes.
