Amok Restaurant

Prompt service, great tasting food and a quiet relaxing atmosphere.

Was looking forward to eating at a good Cambodian restaurant while spending our last day in Melbourne. It unfortunately was not a pleasant experience as I had hoped. I had a dinner reservation for me and my partner and called about 30 minutes before it to ask about a BYO or corkage fee, and was told that they charge $10 per bottle - that is all that was relayed to us so we happily brought over a wine from Yering Station we had purchased that same day during a visit to Yarra Valley. Upon being sat down, we were immediately told that they did not allow BYO on Friday and Saturday nights. Why were we not told this when we had called to ask? Our server and the woman who I had spoken to on the phone were uncompassionate and hardly seemed to acknowledge the clear example of miscommunication from their end - not allowing even an exception considering the their faulty communication circumstances and that we had also carried that bottle with us for 20 minutes to the restaurant and was told we couldn't enjoy it and would have to carry it back. The food was fine (I'm Cambodian and definitely have had better restaurant quality food, but still respect the modern twist at Amok). The rest of the service from our server was severely cold and she did nothing aside from remove empty plates, not even ask how the food was or if we needed anything else. Was going to let my sister and brother-in-law know of this place to try for their last dinner in Melbourne if it was good - but that probably won't be happening after this experience.

We have been going to this restaurant for 6 years and it's Always great food no matter what you pick on the menu. Great service And friendly staff as well

We had the 8 course menu- everything was delicious . I would highly recommend. We were stuffed by the end of it! Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Superb Khmer food. A good selection of choices, gluten free, and vegan. The innovative approach of the chef reminds me of Malis in Phnom Penh which is one of the best restaurants in Cambodia. Just one request, Khmer coffee from Mondulkiri!

Food was great and quite different to other Asian restaurants

We sat outside because we are old and can't hear so well in a noisy environment but saying that, everything else was exceptional and we really enjoyed sitting outside

Nice food, first time trying Cambodian food. The lok lak was pretty good, as was the brioche buns

Food was really delicious (we had the chef’s sharing menu). The food just got better and better as they serve dishes one after the other. Anyone who enjoys Asian food will definitely enjoy Amok’s menu. It’s a good serving portion. Staff are really friendly and super attentive, too.

We never have one bad experience in Amok and that's why we kept coming back 😁

If you like sharing plates of delicious food and being looked after by wait staff that are attentive but don’t rush, then you will enjoy Amok! Our group of 5 all had a great night!

The food was exceptional and the service was excellent . I enjoyed all the dishes but two standouts were definitely the duck curry and the fish popcorn in betel leaf.

waiting staff didn't come back and ask if we would like anything else, after they had delivers our meals. I had to follow up with them and ask them if I could order another drink
