Good food but service could have been a little more attentive.

Great food for a reasonable price. This place is a hidden gem :) The Express Lunch is great for work lunches as they have you in and out very quickly (and satisfied).

The service was good. There is a good selection of food on the menu and the food was good. Overall though not great value for money.

The food was great and excellent value for money, but the service only just ok - twice we had to chase up our drinks order.

The food is always great here but the service is hit and miss. Some of the waitresses can actually be really rude and it takes away from the amazing food.

The food and the service were good. The empanadas were not as good as I thought they would be, this was the only disappointment we had. In general was good

Contrabando has good atmosphere, good service and yummy food! Would recommend for a date night or a group dinner. Will be going back again soon.

the food was good. Nice place for a quick cheap lunch. The service was average, I've been a few times and it can often take a long time to get served (even drinks) if busy. Overall good value for money

Great place for a quick work lunch. If you have longer the cocktails are also worth trying. Can't beat the fish tacos and the guacamole.

Delicious food, especially the sliders and tacos. The restaurant was a bit loud and they had run out of ginger beer for cocktails, but otherwise a great dinner

Nice food but the service really let this place down. Miserable and unhelpful. Very unfortunate! The food was good though, and they have some very reasonable deals.

We brought some guest from overseas over. Service was good and food was excellent. Really loved the fish tacos! The place started getting busy before we left so we were glad we got there early.

Great tacos and a great deal - 4 for $20. We also shared a tuna ceviche which was very tasty. The service was as excellent as ever. Good basement experience on a chilly day.

We went for my daughters 19th birthday, food was awesome, beers were good and the waitress staff were excellent. My daughter ordered a sangria without realising it would be largely red wine and they simply let her order a replacement drink. Will go again ..,

Fantastic lunch time special $20 menu with drink is a winner. Food was delicious especially love the fish taco. Service is fast and friendly. Funky venue. Highly recommend!

Great food, reasonably priced. Only thing is it took ages for the staff to let them know we wanted to pay the bill! We had the Cubano and that was my favourite. I also love their $3 taco special on Tuesdays.

I've come a couple of times now, and have always enjoyed it! I recommend the guac (with refill of corn chips!), margaritas and fish tacos :)

Food was pretty good and the atmosphere was lively. The guacamole and salsa was generous and tasty, will definitely be back for that. On the downside the waiters are a little too keen to clear plates away, sometimes as soon as just as the food had been picked up. If they could be slightly more relaxed about clearing the plates that would be good.

Food was amazing, service great!!! Overall, a really fun night! A few things they could improve on... The food came out a bit too quickly and the table wasn't big enough so it got very crowded very quickly. This wouldn't have been a problem if the food was timed better. Also, the website seems to suggest that groups of 8 or more should have the set menu, however when we arrived we were told that the set menu needed to be pre-ordered.

The food was so fresh,tasty and great value. Had a campany dinner gathering with 20ppl,the staff was so helpful, thanksfully everything went very well. Thank you so much!

The food was superb with big servings as well. The servers should be knowledgeable of the menu and should be more friendly and helpful though.

Very pleasant experience. Generous serve of guacamole. Fish taco excellent. Braised wagyu taco very rich but no less delicious. Busy, but not too noisy, a surprise given the cavernous space. Highly recommended. Water could have been refilled more often, but I'm nitpicking.

Service initially was a bit slow, our server was nowhere to be seen for a long time to take our order. However once we did order there were no issues. Food was really good, good sized portions. Cocktail special was also good value and tasty. Would definitely visit again,

Very nice food including the corn, nachos, quesadillas and tacos. Good service. There were large groups so it was a bit noisy (it was Friday night)

Fun night service and food were very good. The waitresses were very attentive and helpful. We got there at 6.15 pm early dinner, after work. Not too busy. By the time we left at 7.45 pm it was packed and pumping.

Came here for friday lunch with a group. Great food and wine selection, bit loud and few very confused waitresses. Still, great casual dinning spot for a group.

Food is great but service needs to be improved. The girl who confirmed my booking was nearly unintelligible over the phone and I needed to ask her 3 times where she was calling from so I suggest you have someone who speaks very good English ring your clients to confirm bookings.

We had a booking for a Thurs 6pm. The restaurant was pretty empty but filled up within an hour. Food was yummy and portions were a good size. The fish tacos are my favourite. The beef cheeks tacos were really good too. The only issue we had that night was with the sangria. Four of us had a glass of sangria each (they do not serve by the jug). All of us thought the sangria was really bitter for some reason. Service was prompt and friendly.

The food was great and the atmosphere was pleasant, no complaints about the service either. I would definitely recommend it if your in the mood for some Mexican. Try the corn!

The food was OK but the service was really inefficient. The staffs seemed to be organised in a way where there are different staffs for taking orders, serving and cleaning. So every time I ask for service, they refer me to another person which was a complete waste of time and not a seamless experience as we were being kept waiting at most part of the dinner for the right staff to come to do the right thing. At a busy restaurant like that, this system really does not work.

great food, gorgeous staff.nice and quite tucked away and private for a business lunch or relax.Looking forward to the calamari again and the popcorn prawns.

Food came out pretty quick although the restaurant was packed of people during Friday lunch, great flavoursome food however it seemed like not enough waiters/waitresses as we had to try really had to get their attention.

Such a great find - the food was delicious and the underground vibe is very cool. My only criticism would be that the staff seemed to rush us a little; in the space of 10mins we were asked if we were ready to order by 4 different people. But enjoyed our night anyhow!

Food was yum but we weren't told about the all you can eat taco deal - only realised available when table next to us ordered it... We had already ordered at this stage

Decent food and good drinks but horrendous service. Waited ages for our waiter every time we wanted to order drinks, food etc. Once we tried to get the attention of a waitress and she just said 'ok' and moved on to another table. Ordered 3 drinks and they brought two to the table then left the other waiting at the bar - eventually I had to go and get it myself. And one of our party left early and left cash for her share of dinner on the table - which a waitress tried to pick up right away.
