Decent place to have a quick feed whilst waiting for traffic to clear up.

Good food and beer. bit pricy though. Worth it for the good selection of German beers!

Average food with tourist price. I would return only when available on Groupon or Scoopon

Fantastic! Friendly staff and amazing food. Would recommend the pork spatzel. Did I mention they do spatzel? You definitely need to try the spatzel with pork. Order it.

We had 3 children with us and chose Essen because of previous fast service. We placed our order at approx 12.25. Despite asking the waiter on a number of occasions our meals did not arrive until after 1pm. I was disappointed because we were late for another appointment.

Unfriendly staff, average food (goulash tasted only like chilli, pork knuckel was dry), overprized and no atmosphere. Won't be going back and won't recommend to anyone. Such a shame.

Das Restaurant ist mal eine schöne Abwechslung, wenn man als Reisender die deutsche Küche misst. Die Schnitzel sind sehr empfehlenswert und die Spätzle-Gerichte sind gut, haben aber das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht ganz erfüllt. Es gibt einen Zuschlag von 10% auf die Rechnung.

Great food and great beer. Always a fantastic experience. Had the Meat Platter and shared with a friend. We were not left wanting more, we struggled to finish.

Bad organization and more sledding customer regards offer dates. I booked through Groupon for the 7/12/17, resulting thevoffer was not valid till January 2018. Dussapointing

Quite good portions sizes and flavour for food. Polite and friendly service as well. The 'bretzel' and mash potato I have tried and would recommend.

Food is not worth the price. Main course is served only three minutes after being ordered, and it’s clear that all food is merely reheated. So, meat is very dry and even not as tasty as potato

The food at Essen is amazing! Really generous meal sizes and nice variety. The service is attentive and the restaurant space itself its great, not crowded and interesting with all the little nic nacs displayed. Love the kitchen witch!

Good, old fashioned, heavy German food and good beer. Nothing really here suitable for those on a diet but if you don’t have to worry...

Excellent food and Drinks. Our table was a little too small and placed close to the kitchen area, but all in all a pleasant experience and I would go again just for the food and beer.

The portion and quality of food is great and reasonably priced. The beers are great as well. The staff are attentive and friendly. Definitely a place to visit.

Good food, friendly service, accommodating for our group of 12 :) we had a Toastmasters club meeting there and we felt welcome to make speeches etc

I have been dining here for many years and this was the first time I had a minor complaint. Always love to order the Dutch beef croquettes but this time they arrived sitting on 3 blobs of 'mustard sauce' which made them all soggy on the bottom! You can't serve fried food on a sauce have it on the side. As we were going to a show didn't have time to have them redone. The rest of the food was fabulous though!

Food is delicious, the quality of service is great. However, stuff was coming too many times to check about the taste of food and asking whether you need a container for take away. Overall, it is recommended.

Turned up late and still got a really good table near the windows. Staff were polite about being late too. Excellent. Food was great, as always.

Beer was good though a bit pricey. Had pork knuckle which was huge and cackling was crispy. Bretzel, rocket salad, cheese wurst were fine. Hope its Groupon offer will be back soon.

Quick Friday lunch with a couple of nice German beers - reasonable value. Heaps of simple, but tasty food. Friendly service and not too noisy.

Exceptional customer service. This restaurant reminds me the old day I travel in Germany :) Food is yum, authentic and in big portion. I will come back.

Great food if you are after German cuisine or beer. German pasta is very good, sauerkraut and red cabbage as well. And the beer, of course.

Great Atmosphere, prompt service and excellent advice. Had a team event at the restaurant and we were offered advice about what to order, as we were all unsure. Awesome night out.

2 of us had the Pork Knuckles, overcooked and tough, the girls had Lamb Shoulder and questioned if it was in fact lamb shoulder, but enjoyed the meat, staff were attentive, price was fine, atmosphere fine.

The staff were helpful and friendly. Our waiter, Thomas, recommended a beer which was really tasty (as was the food!). Lovely atmosphere and good music choice as well.

Hearty and delicious German far, in a large, bustling restaurant. Excellent selection of bier and wein and you can't go past the delicious (and massive) pork knuckle. Danke!

Very nice & authentic German food! The whole menu is unbelievably nice, affordable & tasty. My regards to the Chef & all staff that makes the Restaurant atmosphere friendly & attractive! The German/ Austrian beer is fantastic & you need to try it out to believe!
