Good location. Great food & service. Wide selection of beers. Very large servings of food. The pretzels are very tasty. I highly recommend the restaurant.

I loved my first visit to Essen! It has an authentic east European atmosphere (it didn't feel like I was in Sydney) and delicious food and beer, along with excellent service. I look forward to my next visit.

Quiet nice place and staff. The food was tasty as well . Thanks . I have been there before but i think they change a little bit of there display of meal .I remembered that the sausage plate came with a wood plate an no side. However, this time came with mash potato and some sauce . I am not pretty sure if i order an other one. any way .. it worth to go .

I had fun! Nice friendly staff helped my group of 6 have a very good time. The food was good. We all had a great time. Have been once before and would happily go back .

Food is good, maybe the portion can be reduced so that the overal pricing can be reduced as well to make it more attractive to come back again

Gap between starter and mains was a little long but pleasant staff. Seemed to have more takeaway orders to deal with than dining in customers. Food was good

We' re frequent visitors to Essen, usual good friendly service, and we enjoy going through the schnapp & beer lists. Only problem with this visit was that the pork knuckle was not slow cooked & tender as previous visits. but we will definitely go back again

Great beer, great schnitzels, great service! We were pretty much the only people there (it was Wednesday lunch) so it wasn't noisy and we didn't have to wait! Would definitely recommend it.

Great food as always from the Essen team. The chicken jäger schnitzel with potato roti keeps us coming back, the Czech beer 1L steins help as well!

Great German food and plenty of it. A good selection of German beers at reasonable prices which made for very pleasant night out in Broadway

Restaurant was quiet so service was quick. Food was very tasty with the meat so tender. The stairwell to the bathroom did have quite an odour to it however.

Authentic German with the beer to match. The service was friendly and fast. The portions generous and tasty. We visit Germany often and this meal took us back there !!

Friendly staff. Great food. We had a great time last night. The portion is generous and perfect for gathering. Perhaps some lighter items on menu for small eater.

Very nice sausage platter, though maybe next time I will ask if I could replace the other two sausages with the cheese kransky! Love the cheese kransky. The amount is quite large, I'm very satisfied. We also ordered the chocolate and hazelnut strudel. It was nice, warm and not overly sweet. A good finish.

Wonderful and friendly service! The food wasn't the best - you're more paying for the quantity rather than quality, but I would be happy to come back to Essen Restaurant again.

Service was exceptional, we had small children and staff were very nice to them as well. Overall, the food was great, with very big portions and great service.

Nice place- went out for lunch. Good food- big portions. Pleasant atmosphere. Had the pork belly with beer. Really soft pork- slow cooked. Excellent rosti.

The mains are pretty good but the sides are not as yummy as expected! The lychee ciders are satisfactory and the beer with lemonade. Worth trying

Very authentic fare! The fact European staff are serving you must mean the staff meals are good! Amazing selection of beers and schnapps too! It was our first time there, but we will definitely be back!

Good food, easy to talk as it wasn't too loud. Decor slightly dated. Good prices though compared to other german restaurants. Would come back again.

Had a wonderful night, we wanted to order a bunch of entrees and share them tapas style, there were so many delicious choices! Got dessert as well, Essen can't be beaten.

The Pork Knuckle was so big I couldn't finish it - had to wash it down with a long wheat beer; menu & decoration seemed all authentic to me. Will visit them again!

Quite good food made even better value by using the Entertainment card. Good service and reasonable atmosphere despite not being terribly busy. We'd go back again.

Great food and value for money. Servings were generous and service was quick but not rushed. Unfortunately no room left for dessert although there were some tempting choices on the menu. The beer drinkers in the group were impressed with the selection and enjoyed trying different varieties. We'll be back!

A few small mistakes were made by the waiters and the food was good but not amazing But the staff apart from the small issues (being very temporarily placing wrong order on wrong table) were extresmly friendly and due to how sweet they were a tip was still given The desert though was amazing.

Service was good. Short waiting time for food, although this could be attributable to the fact that we arrived just after 5 pm, when the Restaurant opens for dinner. The food on offer is mostly authentic German fare and is nicely presented. We only had mains, as we only had an hour before going to an event, and the portions being reasonably this was more than adequate to keep us going. We intend to go again for an evening meal out so we can try the entrees and desserts as well.

Hi Margaret, Thanks for your invitation for a dinner last Saturday. It was the most enjoyable dinner. Dishes were awesome. People were all very nice and everyone shared their stories. From door to table the service was fantastic The food unbelievable. Big servings so skip lunch ..Highly recommended will definitely be back for more ...

Atmosphere: 4/6 Had a very nice vibe to the place with the hardwood and stone bricks. Felt a bit of the German flavour. Does get noisy when the restaurant is nearing capacity as it is a cozy place. Staff: 5.5/6 Well-dressed and courteous. Asked to 'surprise us' with the beer selection and wasn't disappointed with their choices. Food: 4.5/6 Had the Pork Crackling as a starter and it was good. the crackling was cut into chips and served with a side of baked apple puree that was refreshing and complimenting, yum. Also got the Meat Platter for 2 which came with the Beef Goulash, Cheese Cransky, Weisswurst, Sauerkraut, Pork Belly, Chicken Schnitzel, Lamb Shoulder and Rosti. The Beef Goulash was overcooked and felt tough. Cheese Cransky and Weisswurst were my personal favourites. Take care with cutting the Cheese Cransky as it can cause some of the cheese to squirt out. The Sauerkraut was a little to citrusy for my liking and the Pork Belly was good but nothing special. I'm not a fan of Chicken Schnitzel but didn't mind this one and the Lamb Shoulder was well cooked. Rosti was crisp but lacked impact.

We enjoyed beautiful German food accompanied by Glühwein or Früh Kölsch, the company of good friends and pleasant but unobtrusive service. We will certainly return.

The food here is always delicious! The service is friendly and fast. I would recommend to anyone to go here and enjoy a great dinner :)

Friendly and delicious - very generous servings and loads of Pokemon around including a poke stop at the copper tree. Huge pork knuckles that were very tender

The food has gone down hill and was very disappointing. My son's main course was inedible, they offered us something else but no refund (appetite gone by then). Only good dishes on menu are schnitzels and black forest mousse cake

Good hearty German fare with a good selection of beers and other drinks. Schnitzels and rosti were big and generous. Prompt and efficient service too.

We used go to Essen for the schnitzel and potatoe rosti - they now used mash the potatoes and fry it which is a disappointment - Rosti used to be a big part of the experience. Unfortunately the restaurants is no longer like it used to be.

Nice place, friendly stuff but food a bit overcooked. Athmospere is ok and restaurant is clean. Not sure if I would bring my mates there.

A nice atmosphere, good prompt service, great Czech beer on tap, good selection of entrees, but we shared one so as to leave room for the meat share plate for 2. Great dish if you can't make up your mind on what to order. Chicken schnitzel, sausages, red cabbage, sauerkraut, rosti, goulash, pork belly, beef. Topped off with a black forest mouse and double shot coffee. Couldn't ask for more.

Great beer, food & atmosphere. We had really enjoyable dinner. Portion is quite big so dont order to much food and have more beer! Enjoy

Absolutely delicious, especially on a cold winter night. Friendly service and a great overall environment. Would be a great venue for work dinner parties to be held and in a terrific location.

Nice setting, cosy. The wait staff are friendly too. My one major problem with the place is it's a place I have been going to for years now, and I've watched the variety and quality of the food on offer dwindle. The schnapps and beer selection hasn't changed much, thank god, but the schnitzel offerings have dwindled, and the other choices are slim pickings as well. Essentially, it gives the appearance of being dumbed down to suit the local student crowd. As such, sadly, my recent visit with the wife will be our last.

Great food and atmosphere, service was atttentative. We had four dishes to share between the four of us. You must have the Pork Nuckle, the lamb was also nice.

The portion is quite huge but seems normal for German restaurant. Tasty and reasonable priced food. The place itself is quite charming, typical German style. In short, recommended place for German food lover.
