We had seriously good food at very reasonable prices and a really nice atmosphere in a quiet little part of Kent St Will be back next visit

We had sambal tempeh and sambal eggplant for starter, with steamed rice, followed by vegetarian nasi goreng and duck for main course. The service was prompt and polite, and all items were delicious. We would definitely like to eat at The Sambal again.

This restaurant has nice and cosy atmosphere. Very helpful staff too. Not like Nasi Padang, but if you want to eat many small dishes, this restaurant is great.

Indonesian food is my favourite cuisine and The Sambal did not disappoint! A nice little unpretentious spot with wonderful service and delicious food. We had the beef Rendang, the Cumi Bakar (grilled calamari), the Can Kangkung (an exceptional water spinach dish) and the Gulai Adam (chicken curry) - all of which were fantastic. Our server persuaded me to order the crème brûlée with durian (which I normally can’t stand the smell of) - it was superb as the smell actually translated to a really nice flavour. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

I went here with my uni society and everything was amazing! The staff were very helpful and kind, the food was delicious (and didn't cost an arm and a leg) and the wait times were not long at all.

Great food - variety to keep veggies, meat eaters and coeliac happy. Some portions a little small but flavours made up for it and 4 adults fed and 2 drinks for $40 a head
