Hmmmm.... we order Bento Box and 1. spring rolls and gyoza were microwaved of frozen commercial package for sure 2. tempura were so microwaved not freshly fried and no grazed daikon horse radish in dashi source 3. other supposed to be deep fried dishes were soggy..... only good stuff was just decent selection of sake and whiskey. a disappointment.
I may look understated But this little Japanese gem packs a punch Food is great Bear selection great and coldddd! Service bril
Great restaurant and food, though prices a wee bit on the exxy side I thought.
Nice Japanese food with a relaxed atmosphere. Staff are always friendly.
Great food, good portion sizes and friendly staff. Would recommend for a great night out.
Nice inviting restaurant with familiar Japanese menu items to order.
This place has great food and the lunch specials are amazing value.
Awesome food and great service. We will be back tomorrow
Fabulous food and service. Generous serves and high quality presentation. We enjoyed everything we ordered and will be back again soon.
Overall very positive visit. A couple of meals weren't great, just OK, but everything else was really good.
Absolutely fantastic and they are taking social distancing very seriously. Food was incredible.
Authentic and beautiful Japanese food very friendly staff too Loved it 😀
We had a great nite out, we really enjoyed ourselves.
Great service and amazing food options, especially for vegetarians! Will definitely visit again!
Little restaurant, so it's expected to be loud when at capacity. Awesome food, service & preparation time. ONLY criticism was it was awfully hot. Aircon may not have been working? Other than that, great experience and even though it shuts at 2130hrs, they weren't trying to kick us out when we stayed 10 mins past.
I love this place - all of the dishes are so tasty. One persons dinner came out really late so that wasn’t the best for them but the staff were very apologetic
Good service, kind waiters. Good food with good servings. Nice location
Great food. Portions were super huge!!! Service was great too!
Really good food with larger serving sizes. Would eat again
Beautiful food! The chicken was better than anything you could get from KFC or any other Japanese cuisine, definitely will be back!
Food delicious and a wide range of dishes. Noisy at lunch time when full. Inexpensive for quality. I would definitely go again.
Food was very ordinary in taste, prices fair but after living in Japan for few years I can get better sashimi, tempura at my local supermarket sushi train. God was ok but just that -ok
The quality of food was outstanding and great value 😀
The sushi was Devine we’ll definitely be back. It would be a bit nicer if the lights could be dimmed a little so the restaurant is not so starkly lit. Just to add a little nicer ambience. But overall we were still very happy.
Overall, it was disappointing dining experience. the food is quite salty and not authentic. The eggplant dengaku is far from what we call it. Speaking of salmon miso sushi roll, the miso sauce was overpowered and ruined all the delicate flavour of salmon sushi. I noticed that they use the same miso sauce for both of the sushi roll and miso dengaku, which makes me feel that the food lacks variations. If you are after authentic Japanese cuisine, this is not the place and I would suggest going to other Izakaya in the area.
Food was amazing Okonomiyaki and takoyaki were the best as was karaage squid. Definitely will come back
Our favourite place for family occasions. Always take Japanese food loving friends there. Well worth a 40min drive 🌟
There are some dishes that are excellent like sashimi, karage chicken and okonomiyaki. Others though such as the beef rib, teriyaki chicken and pork w/ ginger could be better, if compared to other Japanese restaurants. The imported Orion beer is excellent too.
The food was so unappetising and cheap we didn’t eat what we ordered apart from a few mouthfuls and left after paying $50
Great food, always nice. Service excellent. Reasonable price. We always go here for Japanese, not too far from home. Only thing is parking around the area is a little hard at times. but more places to park after 7pm.
Excellent food and friendly service. We were welcomed and given a cool space on a hot day. Licensed so enjoyed a Japanese beer. Food portions were generous and flavoursome. I’ll be going back yet again.
Very good meal and lovely wait staff. Our only issue wasn’t the fault of the restaurant, we had a very noisy group who were seated next to us, and they made it difficult to enjoy our time. We will go back for a meal again.
Went there for dinner. The food was really good as was the service. Location is great and easy to get to. Definitely will be coming back!
The food was delicious, but the plates were too big. True Izakaya style is to have lots of little meals but this is not possible with the size of the Goku dishes. We were only able to try a few dishes because they were too big.
Great food and atmosphere. Service polite and friendly, but wait staff could be a bit more attentive, they didn't come back to offer more drinks. A few small mistakes with our orders as well - a wrong size beer and a side of kim chee never arrived, but they were only little things so we didn't bother complaining about it.
The food was great and the service was awesome. They helped us with last min additions to table numbers without a hitch!!! We will definitely return again.
First time here and we loved it. The food was amazing both in taste, freshness as well as presentation. The service was friendly and efficient. Can't wait to return :)
Great food and great service and very well priced. Starters, mains and drinks for 4 only $150! The spicy ramen was delicious. Nice dining room with a traditional Japanese feel.
We had a great time: attentive service, tasty food and a pleasant environment (quiet enough to carry a conversation). My favorites were crispy karaage chicken and seaweed salad. Our companion had seafood okonomiyaki pancake and loved it. The bento box for dinner was a bit pricey but quite large (I was forewarned that 2 people could share it) and good quality. It felt like being back in Tokyo... We will come back, probably for lunch.
The last review I gave was very good but the waiting time for this particular visit was shocking. I waited 40 mins for my vegetable pancake (okonomiyaki). It was tasty but I was late for work as a result of the wait. The people on the adjacent table area were extremely noisy and disruptive to other diners. I might only dine here outside of peak hours in future.
The menu options were excellent and food was served quickly. The only reason I didn't give a 6 rating was that the ramen wasn't as good as I've had at most other establishments. Would still definitely eat there again though just minus the ramen.
If you are looking for a truly authentic Japanese restaurant in Brisbane... this is it!! The food is absolutely delicious & the hospitality is great!!
This was a special event, and it basically lived up to expectations. They kept the food and sake coming regularly and provided good explanations for what was served.
The food wasn't nice at all. The sauce of my curry tasted like it came straight out of a jar. Friendly service and nice wine though.
Food quality was ok. The eggplant dish I ordered this time was a bit too oily. The ramen special is just average. The tuna sashimi was also just average
Food great Service average No BYO Alcohol too expensive eg $13 stubbie Wouldn't go back unless BYO or alcohol prices reduced in line with other restaurants
Very ordinary food- bland and disappointing. Only good thing was chicken karaage. Teriyaki beef tasted like it has been in slow cooker all day with over cooked vegetables. Okonomiyaki was parcooked and sloppy. Slow service
Good place to eat, however quite small so if you have a big group, it is best to book ahead. I don't think the Bento is worth the price but pork ramen is nice. Service was quite slow. There were 6 of us and our food came out one by one with around 10-15 mins interval so this might be something they need to work on.
Food was good but the service was quite slow. Our table of 6 (one of only 3 or 4 tables occupied) got meals 2 at a time so there was a considerable wait until the last person received their meal.
Staff were friendly and obliging. Food was fresh and nicely presented. Yummy gyoza especially. Loo is a long way from the restaurant through not particularly attractive alleyways, but this is a minor compliant.
